Jamaica Series – Fresh Delicious Coconut Water

I started to drink the refreshing coconut water and couldn’t stop drinking.

I had to shift the coconut away from me as I drank the coconut water, to not make a mess of myself.

After I finished drinking the water I cracked open the coconut and was delighted to see there was some jelly inside the coconut.

If the young coconut is too young, it will not have much or any jelly. I was lucky to be able to have some of this delicacy.

Coconut water serves as a excellent sports drink, since it contains less sodium and more potassium than many sports drinks.

To replace lost electrolytes, I often drink coconut water during and after my grueling 50 mile bicycle rides.

Coconut water contains the antiviral, anti-fungal lauric acid. This is a good acid also found in breast milk, that helps to protect babies against disease.

Coconut water contains an array of minerals including: calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, sodium, and vitamins: vitamin C, riboflavin, and vitamin B6.
