What Is Chlorella And Why Do I Need It?
A Nutrient Rich Detoxifying Whole Food Algae
What Is Chlorella? Chlorella is a natural wholefood which can serve as a chlorella food source or it can be used as a natural whole food dietary supplement. You can find chlorella in powder and tablet form.
Chlorella is single-cell green algae, belonging to the phylum Chlorophyta family. It contains green photosynthetic pigments called chlorophyll-a and -b in its chloroplast and chlorella’s high concentration of chlorophyll acts as an excellent heavy metal detoxifier of the blood. What nutrients are in chlorella? Chlorella is packed with beta carotene, vitamin B complex and B-12, magnesium, iron, RNA, DNA, protein, and amino acids which are vital nutrients for supporting healthy living.
What Are The Benefits Of Chlorella?
Chlorella contains a high amount of chlorophyll that binds to heavy metals and removes them from the body in a process called chelation. Heavy metals such as mercury, arsenic, and lead, will remain in the body and cause havoc to the immune system and will destroy vital cells over time unless intervention is used to remove them from the bloodstream and the body.
During the process of chelation, chelating agents such as chlorphyll will bind with heavy metals making them inert and they can be excreted without further interaction with the body.
High In Magnesium
Chlorella is a natural and rich source of the mineral magnesium. Magnesium is involved in more than 300 tasks in the body. It is essential in maintaining normal heart function, muscle and nerve function, supporting the immune system, and keeping bones strong. Magnesium helps in regulating blood sugar levels, supporting normal blood pressure, regulating hypertension, and is involved in converting blood sugar to energy and protein synthesis.
Antioxidant Properties
Chlorella contains mixed carotenoids, which act as antioxidants that protect healthy cells from free radical damage. Free radicals are unstable molecules that damage cells and cause aging by stealing and electron from a cell it comes in contact with.
Antioxidants neutralize free radicals by donating one of their own electrons, and the antioxidant themselves don’t become free radicals by donating an electron because they are stable in either form. Chlorella also contains the anitoxidants: vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, and selenium.
Stimulates the Immune System
Chlorella increases level of the protein interferon in the body, which are normally released by cells in response to the presence of bacteria, parasites, tumor cells, and viruses. Interferon interferes with the viral reproduction in cells, activates immune cells called macrophages, and increases the ability of an infected cells to resist infection by a new viruses.
Chlorella Growth Factor
Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF) is a nucleotide-peptide complex of Chlorella and is made mostly of nucleic acid derivatives. CGF allows chlorella to grow at a very fast rate and each of its cells multiplies into four cells bout every 20 hours. Experiments have shown the CGF promotes cell growth, enhances RNA/DNA functions responsible for the production of enzymes and proteins, and stimulates cell repair.
How to use Chlorella?
Using chlorella was and integral part of my successful adoption of a plant based diet. During the beginning of my transition to a plant based diet from being a pescatarian, I went on a 3 month deep cleanse of my organs where I used a variety of cleansing herbs along with following an alkaline diet.
Using it helped to remove heavy metals from my bloodstream and body, and also naturally supplemented vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients while my body got used to a plant based diet. At first I used chlorella powder and added it directly to my vegetable juices. I have to tell you the taste was a bit overwhelming, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me reaping the chlorella benefits. Instead of adding it to my vegetable juices, I bought empty vegetable capsules and packed them with the chlorella. I would take six capsules with my vegetable juice in the morning, and six in the afternoon.
