The Effects of Low-Level Lead Exposure in Adults

Lead levels of 10 have been viewed as acceptable but evidence shows that lead levels of only 1 are associated with illness.

High and prolonged exposure to lead has been associated with cognitive impairment, high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney disease, and reduced fertility.[1]

Levels below 10 were thought to be acceptable but studied have have that levels as low as 1 have been associated with gout.[2]

Lead’s health risk is so serious national campaigns were put in place to remove it’s use in society. The the levels of lead have been reduced in societies, lead is still showing up in people’s bloodstream.

Research has shown that lead that previously ended up in people’s bloodstreams got absorbed into peoples bones and are now being slowly released back into the bloodstream.
