Stop Feeding Your Kids Lunch Meat And Cancer
Most cases of cancer are caused by external factors such as diet and not genetics. Only 2% of cancer can be attributed to to genetics,[1] so that fact should encourage you to consume a diet that doesn’t promote cancer.
The World Cancer Research Fund said we should avoid all processed meat, which includes lunch meat, because data did not show any level of consumption was not associated with increased cancer risk.[2]
This study concluded that the consumption of processed meat was a powerful multi-organ carcinogen.[3] Along with increasing the risk of cancer, the consumption of processed meat increased the risk of heart disease and diabetes.
This included all processed lunch meat, even the so-called healthier white meat like chicken and turkey lunch meat.
The World Cancer Research Fund’s most comprehensive study on cancer recommends we should eat mostly foods of plant origin to help prevent cancer. The means we should consume a whole food plant-based diet or a diet the avoids processed meat and is centered around the consumption of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, and whole grains.
