Cancer Centers Across East Tennessee Offering Free Prostate Cancer Screenings. This is a big boost to September’s Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. A blood test is the only thing required to be eligible for the free screening.

MEDIC, Nisus, and the Provision Center for Proton Therapy are three cancer organizations that are offering the screenings, which might encourage men who are reluctant to get tested to get checked out.

These three organizations are offering the screenings at ten locations throughout 8 East Tennessee counties. Prostate cancer is the number one form of cancer men get, and is the second leading cancer cause of death in men.

The American Cancer Society estimates 220,800 new men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year.
