Buyer Beware! Manufacturers Of Poison Food Additives Get To Determine If The Poison Is Safe For Consumption
In 2013 the US Food and Drug Administration announced their plans to eliminate partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs), also called trans fats, from the food supply. This was based on the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) findings that the elimination of trans fats could prevent more than 10,000 heart attacks and thousands of deaths every year.
I think someone forgot to push the go button because trans fats can still be found in our food. Since this food additive is dangerous, how does it end up in our food? Though this additive, and many others, is harmful to our health it still had been given to protective “GRAS” status. GRAS mean “generally recognized as safe,” which gives the green light that the substance is safe to be added to our food.
Who in their right mind would give this harmful additive the green light to be added into our food? Are you ready for this? The manufacturer of the food additive gets to determine whether the additive is safe or not! The manufacturer of a food additive has the authority to give the substance the GRAS label, and that is that. This process is called GRAS self-determination. Buyer Beware!
Once the GRAS label has been given to a food additive the manufacturer doesn’t have to inform the public or the FDA. Buyer Beware! Please watch this video. Though we are fighting an uphill battle against greed in our system, never give up! The quality of our lives and the lives of children are at stake.
