Running To Prepare For The Tough Mudder

Running To Prepare For The Tough Mudder

I am preparing to participate in the “Tough Mudder” this coming weekend. Wish me strength?

The Tough Mudder involves running thirteen miles with twenty-five obstacles to overcome through the race. I don’t know if race is the correct term because this event is more about working with your team members to run together and help each other get through the obstacles.

It does involve running though, and running is my least favorite exercise. I take my hat of to the phenomenal runners who run marathons and iron-man races. They are truly remarkable. Running has just never been my thing, but i have done it when I needed to.

I was talking with my friend and we both agreed we may not like running because we had to run in the early morning or after work in the snow when we used to box. Maybe this is why running is my least favorite exercise.

Anyway, I needed to get some running in before the Tough Mudder this weekend so for my Tough Mudder training I ran for a full hour yesterday on the treadmill at my gym.

I haven’t run in a while now, so that was an accomplishment for me. I am highly active though through boxing, kick boxing, cycling, spinning, and the occasional power walking, so I wasn’t going into the run out of shape.

So I did sixty leg raises to warm up, killing two birds with on stone. I am doing a lot of core work right now to help me to do the flag. This is my sister’s boyfriend doing the flag. He is an absolute beast on the bar. Click the picture to see Teddy’s awesome bar workout. He is the top of the top!

Check out my Tough Mudder training video. Okay it is just a little running. My Tough Mudder training tips are not to just jump into a long run like this. Build yourself up to it. My plant based diet, healthy living, and my frequent cardio exercises allowed me to jump into an hour run without running in months. Tough Mudder here I come!
