Ran Into A Local Youth Parade Walking In Town In Winhoek Namibia
I was walking through town with my friend Lamont Slater when we ran into a local youth parade. One of the kids made the plane that led the parade. Other children who were being celebrated followed behind.
It was interesting to listen to the music selection that started of with sounds of Africa and then mixed into pop music.
Lamont pointed out that some of the girls in the parade wore the traditional dresses of their respective cultures. Namibia has many different cultures and histories that are woven together in a intricate tapestry.
The girls in the pink dresses wore traditional Owambo dresses. The girls in the yellow dresses wore traditional Herero dresses. The Herero hats have horns that represent the cattle that they use for sustenance.
