My Traditional African Village Style House: Video
My Traditional African Village Style House in Mjanaheri Mambrui Kenya
My pan-African journey led me to buy a traditional African village style house in Kenya. I decided to move part-time to the coast of Kenya for the pole-pole village life.
I was pulled towards the pole-pole coastal life when I visited Kenya in 2019. Pole-pole means” go slowly” in Swahili. The Kenyan coast also has a tropical climate like that of the Caribbean islands, which also felt like home to me.
Some people will look upon my move as a move backwards, coming from America, because I have opted for the African village life. But for me, it is a form of unplugging from the Matrix.
My traditional African village style house in Beachbay, Mjanaheri Mambrui, is right off the beach of the Indian Ocean. Local African villages primarily inhabited by the Giriama tribe of the Mijikenda people surround my village.
I examine some of the basic construction methods used to build the homes in my village, and the homes in the local villages, in the video below.
